South Indian hill station is located 1500 metres above sea level, in the Shevroys section of the Eastern Ghats. An ideal weekend getaway, Yercaud derives its name from the lake that runs through the heart of the town and is known for the coffee plantations and orange groves.
Overlooking the ghat road is a cluster of rocks below which is a view of about 200 feet to the valley below. This is known as Lady’s Seat and offers a breath-taking view of the city of Salem.
Yercaud is home to a number of picturesque falls filled with streams of sparkling water. The most popular are the Kiliyur Falls. At 300 feet about sea level, the falls offer a spectacular view which can only be earned by an hour long trek through the woods.
One of the most popular attractions in Yercaud is the Emerald Lake, the only natural lake in all the hill stations across South India. A serene and tranquil location, boat rides are a favorite among the visiting tourists.

Situated at an altitude of 5326 feet, the Murugan Temple is the yercaud a majestic view of the hills and the plains below. Filled with a mystical air, the temple houses a narrow and dark cave where rest the statues of the deities.
