Coimbatore Has New Kid Block
Stepping into the city of Coimbatore is like walking into a mini-Chennai. It may be a ‘tier – 2’ city, but it matches the bigger metropolitans on all counts. I arrive with my fellow bees and am whisked away in a spacious SUV to the brand new GRT Zibe Hotel, located on Avinashi Road. I strap on my seatbelt and settle in for what I assume will be a long drive. Ten minutes into telling my fellow-travellers a story, I am interrupted – “we’re here”.
Already? Wow, that was quick!
One of the coolest things about a hotel is its proximity to the airport, railway stations and bus stops. Who wants to keep travelling after you’ve already travelled so much!
Coimbatore Has A New Kid On The Block
Offering a Smart Stay in this Smart City!
BEING MYSELFThe first thing that strikes me is how quietly this hotel is tucked away, right on the busy main road. It’s pretty and colourful, and yet the Zibe is that of strong, seasoned hoteliers. The staff is eager to greet us and they help set us up with our keys. Once we’re checked in, Bee Number 2 and I go exploring. It occurs to me that here, I can be myself. There’s nothing pretentious about this property, and I’m perfectly comfortable in my summer outfit.
COLOUR ME VIBRANT the entire hotel is bright, spacious, modern, and done up in vibrant hues. Every floor has its own theme and I buzz about admiring the stylised elephants, dancing tigers, adorable umbrellas, the bhangra and bharatnatyam dancers. Every room is colour co-ordinated, with interesting themes like auto-rickshaw patterns and stylised birds. The hidden designer in me is thrilled to see colour accents thrown into otherwise spacious, well-lit, comfortable rooms.
The beds are just utterly soft – ones you just sink into and are hard to get out of every morning. In-room facilities include a work desk, cavernous closet, in-room dining, high-speed WiFi, a flat screen television, and well-appointed bathroom. I explore the amenities that include a dental kit and grooming kit among others – perfect for a smart traveller! We then head up to check out the gym, and the terrace offering lovely city views.
To wrap up the day, we tuck into delicious kathi rolls at the Tiffin Room, and I head upstairs to call it a night, but not before catching up on email and social media on the superfast Wi-Fi.
